Welcome! I am Gretchen Seaver Lee
Violinist, Violist, Fiddler, & Music Educator based in Austin, TX
I have spent more than two decades sharing my joy for music through teaching students of all ages. I believe that learning music is an enriching personal experience for anyone and everyone—teaching and learning music for music’s sake is a worthy goal all by itself.
My Teaching Approach
I strive to help all of my students build a strong foundation of musical skills and participate in music in a way that is meaningful for them.
- A Solid Foundation: I grew up playing the Suzuki repertoire from the age of 5. The Suzuki books provide a strong foundation in technical, musical, and aural skills that apply to classical music and beyond.
- Tailored to the Student: I freely add pieces and musical styles according to the student's individual interest.
- Continuous Growth: I am always seeking fresh ideas and perspectives. I make it a priority to take extra courses as often as I can to incorporate new insights into my teaching.
Credentials & Background
- Degrees: Master’s degree in Music Education & Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance
- Certifications: Suzuki Teacher Training Units 1–10 through the Suzuki Association of the Americas, alongside numerous supplementary courses.
- Additional Graduate-level Studies: viola performance, viola pedagogy, mentoring novice teachers

Performance
Beyond education, I am an active performer and session musician. I am available for live events and collaborations, including:
